Sokratis Papastathopoulos has chosen to join Arsenal over Manchester United this summer.
Sokratis has become one of Arsenal’s main targets in this transfer window, with head of recruitment Sven Mislintat having worked with the centre-half at Borussia Dortmund.
The 29-year-old will move to north London in a reported £16million deal within the next few days.
Is he the leader Arsenal need? Who knows.
But the player’s father has revealed that Arsenal were not his only Premier League suitors.
“There was interest from United but he had to wait until July for them,” his father, Charalambos, told 24/7 radio.
“United have a very good relationship with Dortmund, the teams were talking more closely.
“He chose to go to Arsenal instead.
“He is happy. He is in England at the moment and everything will go well.”
