Sadio Mane has reacted with excitement at the prospect of Lyon attacking midfielder Nabil Fekir arriving at Liverpool this summer.
French outlet RMC Sport claimed on Sunday that Jurgen Klopp had agreed a deal for the 23-year-old attacking midfielder, while Canal+ also claimed a €70million deal has been brokered by Gerard Houllier, the club’s former manager and now a special advisor to Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas.
Mane was asked about 22-goal Fekir after Liverpool’s 1-0 defeat to Chelsea and he predicted “fire” if the Fekir reports were true.
“Nabil is a really great player,” Mane told SFR Sport. “If it is the case, we’ll be really very happy to have him with us. I think he will do great things with us. He’s going to enjoy himself here.
“You always need that kind of player. If we get him, it’s going to be fire.”
Klopp though played down the talk at his press conference, while the player himself also made comment after Lyon’s 3-0 win over Troyes yesterday.
“There’s nothing for the moment. I’m still at Lyon. There are two matches left. We’ll prepare for them in the best possible way. At the end of the season, we’ll see, but for the moment, there’s nothing,” said Fekir.
