We all know sex is one of the most exciting and amazing aspects of life. But sometimes, abstaining from it is the best. Here’s taking a look at all the times in your life when you need to steer clear of sex.
1. When you have an infection
If you have a yeast infection, or have recently been tested positive for an STD, it’s a good idea to not have sex for a while. Even if you use a condom, you can’t be completely sure that it will work perfectly. And if it doesn’t, your partner will be at risk of contracting the infection.
2. When you’re in pain
It’s true that sex can help relieve certain types of pain, like headaches and stress-related body ache, but if you’re sore/tender/itchy down there, you should ideally not indulge.
3. When you don’t know your partner well
You may have tons of fun when you’re out with your date, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you know the guy. If you’re unsure about the kind of person he really is, or if you’re anxious about his sexual past, you should definitely not have sex with him. Get to know him better and only then take the next step.
4. When you risk hurting others
If you’re seeing a guy who’s married or is in a committed relationship, or someone who’s serious about you but you aren’t about him, it’s better to refrain from getting intimate. Having sex with such a person can result in heartbreak all around.
5. When there’s no protection
Times when you ask your partner to use a condom and he says he “forgot”, say no. You shouldn’t go ahead with it if you’re not comfortable with unprotected sex. Also, if you’ve forgotten to take
your birth control pills, abstinence is the way to go.
6. When you don’t feel like it
Or when your partner doesn’t. Having sex when you aren’t in the mood can only lead to resentment and anger. Sex with your partner shouldn’t feel like a duty, and you should only indulge in it when both of you are ready for it and want to do it.
