You go out on a date with that seemingly perfect office cutie, but at the end of it, you’re totally put-off and don’t even want to think about a second date. Ever been through a similar situation? What is it that counts as a deal-breaker for women? What is it that turns them off? We’ve rounded up the most common turn-offs for women, popularity-wise.
Dirty long nails
Long nails, if maintained properly, can be quite pretty… on girls. For some reason, women don’t like the idea of men growing their nails long, especially if it’s just the pinkie fingernail. And if the guy has long, crooked nails with dirt under them, well, that’s our cue to run in the opposite direction.
Granted, this is a major turn-off for both sexes, but considering that more men tend to wear closed shoes, we win. Guys, if you have to wear closed shoes with socks for work, please make sure to wear clean socks and give your shoes a wash once in a while, won’t you?
Starboys are basically womanisers who are proud of their ‘conquests’ and won’t blink an eyelid while boasting about them. Think Barney Stinson from How I Met Your Mother. Sure, guy, if you want this to be just a fling, that’s your choice, but if you start listing names and scores, we’re out.
Talking but not listening
These guys just want to talk, talk, and talk without pausing enough to listen to what you’re saying. Most of their conversations revolve around them, their achievements and their problems, and when you mention that argument you had at work, they shut you down and call you a whiner. Ugh.
We don’t expect all men to have an IQ of a 170, but we do expect a fair knowledge of how the world works and enough common sense to figure things out. If we see a look of total ignorance on your face when we speak about the latest happenings in the world then sorry dude, but we’re kind of judging.
Yes, we know stuff too, thank you. You don’t have to act surprised if you see us setting up the PlayStation without your inputs or changing the car tyre without your help. We know quite a lot of things, really, and unless we ask you to explain something to us, just don’t take it upon yourself to ‘help’ us out.
Not making eye contact
What’s that about? Making eye contact while talking is a sign of confidence and can be really sexy if done right. A guy looking everywhere else but at the person he’s talking to is can be pretty annoying.
Too much, too soon
We’re all for expressing yourself and your feelings with us. But before you declare your undying love, pause and think for a moment. Are you jumping the gun? Has it been just two dates and you’re ready to pop the question and decide which school you want to send your kids to? Hold on to your horses, boy!
Who doesn’t love the thrill of a chase? But too many mixed signals isn’t just tiring, but plain old annoying too. If we had to spend all our time solving this mystery, we’d much rather invest in a game of Cluedo!
