Clubs are slowly turning their eyes toward the summer window, and Transfer Talk has the updates on all the latest rumours.
United target Watford’s Doucoure
Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure has been catching the eye with his performances this season, and the Mirror reports that Manchester United “have added him to their summer wish list.”
Doucoure, Watford’s top scorer with seven goals, has previously been linked with Tottenham, Arsenal and Liverpool.
United “are understood to have had him watched” against West Brom as Jose Mourinho plans a midfield shake-up.
Mourinho wants two new central midfielders — and the other, could be
Andre Gomes , one of three Barcelona players United might target.
Defender Samuel Umtiti and goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen are the others, with Umtiti having yet to sign a new contract — a situation the Sun reckons “could allow United to step in.”
Germany international Ter Stegen is valued at £90 million, and any move would depend on what happens with David De Gea, who is still in discussions over a new contract.
Arsenal want Leverkusen keeper Leno
Petr Cech cut a rueful figure after Arsenal’s defeat at Brighton on Sunday, and he wasn’t the only one.
He has even more to worry about, reporting that the Gunners “are chasing Bayer Leverkusen keeper Bernd Leno as they look for a new long-term No. 1.”
Reports in Germany have linked Napoli with 26-year-old Germany international Leno, Arsenal are ready to pay his £22m release clause.
The keeper “has gained a glowing reputation in Germany, and Arsenal head of recruitment Sven Mislintat will be aware of his quality.”
Arsenal also are keen to bring in a central defender and a holding midfielder, but reports says they “will not have a huge budget and may wheel and deal for whoever is in charge in the summer amid doubts over Arsene Wenger’s future.”
Juve’s Dybala to stay where he is
It’s the end of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester United’s hopes of signing Juventus forward Paulo Dybala.
The trio had been keen to add Argentina international Dybala to their ranks, but the NOV says he will frustrate them by signing “a new five-year contract worth £120,000-a-week with Juventus.”
That deal, the report says, will not include a release clause.
It adds that Dybala opted to stay where he was after his devastating early-season form, which brought him 13 goals in eight matches, tailed off.
That “convinced him he still has much to learn before testing himself in La Liga or the Premier League.”
— Barcelona are keeping tabs on Lyon left-back Ferland Mendy and could move for him at the end of the season, according to reports in both Spain and France.
Mendy, 22, joined Lyon from Le Havre, and he has become a first-team regular, attracting praise for his fine form, with AS reporting that his progress “is being closely followed by Barcelona.”
— Wolverhampton Wanderers might have dropped a few points of late, but the Championship leaders continue to plan for potential promotion and are targeting AC Milan striker Andre Silva.
Monaco and Sevilla are also interested in Portugal international Silva, valued at £34m, but Wolves are confident they can persuade him to move to Molineux.
